Abstract:

Changes in electronics technologies and market dynamics have made traditional electronic parts selection and management practices inadequate. This report presents the evolution of relevant technology and business practices in the electronics industry and discusses elements of a new parts selection and management plan that works with these changes. The report describes the relationships among members of the electronic system supply chain, explains how these relationships have evolved, and presents an assessment of market trends and challenges. The report concludes with the objectives of a parts selection and management program, suited to the current market and adaptable to future changes.
